Philharmonic

Philharmonic is an intermediate orchestra comprised of advancing students. Philharmonic is a symphony orchestra, including strings, winds, brass and percussion. More complex orchestral techniques are introduced, and students may have an opportunity to play side-by-side with the Symphony Orchestra. Players are expected to be comfortable shifting, and to be able to play in various keys and with more advanced bow/articulation techniques. Seating is rotated each concert, and is determined by what works best for the orchestra. Wind and brass usually rotate parts with each piece. An audition is required, which will include a prepared scale and solo, and sight reading provided by the auditioners. Kara Hartten will be the conductor of Philharmonic beginning fall 2018.
